Amlodipine Tablets have been prescribed for treatment of coronary heart disease, high blood pressure, and for management of hypertension. Active chemical present in these tablets has molecular formula C20H25ClN2O5 with molar mass of 408.879 g/mol. They are known to have bioavailability of 64 to 90% with protein binding ability of 93%. These tablets are considered as angioselective calcium channel blockers with ability to inhibit movement of Ca++ ions into vascular smooth muscle cells. This activity of Amlodipine Tablets results in inhibition of cardiac muscle contraction and calcium ion influx across cell membranes.
